My name is Dimitris Patsouris.
After many years of involvement in a wide area of activities such as furniture making, motorcycle club racing, full stack web development, mmo game development/management/admin, I crossed paths with the world of CAD design, CAM programming and CNC machines.
At that time I was an employee in a furniture making workshop so wood was the material through which I learned the things that are to know about and CNC routers and machining.
The idea that any design in the CAD could be materialized with great precision got me hooked in this industry fairly quickly. In my first year I designed and made different types of wooden jewelry, as well as
experimenting with epoxy resins in conjunction with wood.
Parts for furniture were also made, where hand carving and other traditional methods could not deliver the amount of perfection and precision required.
Since slowly realizing the capabilities of our 4-axis CNC router and while learning to work with exotic materials such as epoxy resins and composites the idea of a wooden bike formed.
Within two months we had our first prototype with five more revisions following in the next fifteen months.
I have been in the industrial design business for quite some time now and it fascinates me. The main reason for this is that it allows for traditional materials, known to man for centuries, to be processed with methods, speed and precision that were inconceivable until not so long ago. Consequently this makes room for some really innovative and groundbreaking ideas to form and projects to emerge.
